Established in 1927, the Museum is located in the complex of Saint Benedict, where it found its location in 1964. Inside the structure there are numerous artifacts, from prehistory to the late Roman imperial age, from all over the province of Salerno.

Most of the remains of Roman civilization are located at the entrance of the structure, while inside there are finds from different eras and different cultural currents. On the upper floor, the remains found in the  Archaeological Area of Fratte are exhibited.
