The Church of S. Maria de Lama dates back to 11th century thus being one of the most ancient monuments in town. The church was built by a Longbard noble family as a chapel.
Its original structure, square in plan and facing north, was eventually incorporated into the existing crypt. The upper level was erected later and is longitudinal in plan, divided into a central nave and two side aisles.
